Masks

Gouache on ordinary paper. Not my favorite media, but decent enough. We did this...oh, must've been last september/november, it's been at school since.
The assignment was simple; make a mask and paint three versions of it using Goethe's (or was it Itten's? My teachers would be ashamed of me) various colour theories.
Yellow and purple are opposites and thus creates a very strong contrast.
Red and blue are one colour apart (purple), resulting in a colour scheme that is pleasant to look upon; the colours cooperate, neither demanding too much attention.
Green and blue, however, are too close to each other in the colour circle, resulting in a faintly unsettling combination. (As demonstrated in my nausea while painting this. Eurgh.)
The mask itself and a couple lines were already drawn in; we were supposed to fill out the blanks with facial features, hair, whatever. Didn't spend much time on it; the painting was too time-consuming, but I still like how it turned out.
